B2evolution to Wordpress Migration Script
I found a script to migrate from B2evolution to Wordpress here but it was for older versions of both pieces of software. It also didn’t transfer any of the comments. So, I updated it to allow migration from B2evolution version 0.9.0.12 to Wordpress 2.02. You can download the script here. Just rename it to migrate.php and run it on your server after filling out your database connection information and everything should be peachy.

Wow… I have to say I’m shocked, especially after all the high praise you gave b2evolution. Still, a fresh new look is always a good thing.
Hell maybe I should switch to wordpress!

B2evolution is good…just not quite as good for blogging as Wordpress. And, now that I made that little migration script you can switch to Wordpress too!

Really? But I don’t currently use b2evolution. Could you make it work for MT 3.121?

Oh right you still use MT! Hah…there is already a migration feature built in to Wordpress for MT so you’re already good to go.

“er, ooga booga cholecystolithiasis” hahah pat…that’s exactly what i was thinking too…i feel like i’m reading a script from some nerdy convention!

This might sound silly, but I know there were some changes to the database of b2evo in version 0.9.1 - do you know how this affects your script or will I need to just try it and find the undocumented features myself?

I checked out the database changes going to 0.9.1 and they are related to the hit log and posting categories. There shouldn’t be any problems but let me know if there are.

This migration script converts a b2evolution to an existing wordpress database. TuMahlers Version works fine except for two encoding issues (titles) and problems with more than one category. I’ve added and fixed these points. So here you can download b2evoTOwp.php V0.3 [...]

Is this script operational for B2 0.9.2 to WordPress 2.0.4, also what folder do I upload and run the script from?

I haven’t updated it for the latest versions but I would check the prevoius comments to see if they did. You can run the script from any folder…it’s just acessing and updating your database.
