		<description>You are a champion!  Most blogs on CD skip/jump seem to focus on scratches on discs,  which is simplistic.  Your observation on skips near the start is spot on and points to a problem with the laser. It is good to know there are pots than can be adjusted.
I have a Sony CDP 35 from the early eighties that had been stashed away because of problems with tray open/close.
Was about to toss it in the garbage, but decided to open it  before scrapping it. After a couple of days fiddling with the mechanism it turned out the spring operating the clamp arm was weak and the belt driving the tray was loose. Managed to shorten the spring and wound some an old 'O' ring around the pulley to increase the belt tension and the tray is as good as new. 
The problem now is the skipping. Will need to locate the pots on the PCB. Any pointers to help identify them would be appreciated.

		<description>I haven't updated it for the latest versions but I would check the prevoius comments to see if they did. You can run the script from any folder...it's just acessing and updating your database.</description>
